How to Join and Use a Chamber
Request membership, get approved, and make the most of the chamber workspace: announcements, resources, events, dues, and more.
Chambers are the heart of ChamberOS. A chamber is your society within the faculty, the place where announcements, resources, events, dues, tutors, jobs, and a study leaderboard all live together. Here is how to find one, join it, and use everything inside.
What a chamber is
Think of a chamber as a moot society, a study group, or a faculty body with its own members and leaders. Each one belongs to a university and a faculty. Once you are a member, you get a full workspace built for that group.
How to find and join a chamber
- Open the Chambers tab.
- Look through the chambers in your university. Each card shows the name and faculty.
- Open the one you want and tap to request membership.
- Your request goes into that chamber's waiting list.
A chamber admin then looks at your request. They can approve you as a member, make you an executive, or turn it down. Your status changes once they act.
Why there is an approval step
Chambers are the one part of ChamberOS where a person still says yes to each new member. Joining your university gets you into the app, but each chamber decides who belongs. This keeps member lists accurate and lets leaders manage their group.
A tip that speeds things up
Add your matric number to your profile before you request to join. Admins can see whether you have done it, and a complete profile is quicker to approve.
Inside the chamber workspace
Once you are approved, open the chamber to see its workspace. Swipe left and right between sections, or tap the section names along the top. Here is what each one holds.
Overview
Your landing page. It shows the latest announcement and quick links into the other sections.
Announcements
Official posts from chamber leaders. Check here for calls, deadlines, and news for the whole chamber.
Resources
Study materials the chamber shares: past questions, notes, case summaries, and links. Many are sorted by course and year.
Events
The chamber calendar. Moots, classes, meetings, and socials, each with its date, so you can plan around them.
Dues
Where membership dues are tracked. You can see what is owed and settle up, and leaders can manage payments.
Tutors
Tutors the chamber recommends, with a way to add your own recommendation.
Jobs
Opportunities shared with members: internships, clerkships, and openings for law students.
Leaderboard
A friendly study-streak ranking of members, so steady effort gets noticed. Keep your daily activity going to climb it.
Roles inside a chamber
- Members can read everything, take part, and use the workspace.
- Chamber admins and executives run the chamber. They post announcements, add resources and events, review requests, and manage the day to day.
If you are asked to help lead, an existing admin can make you an executive.
Common questions
My request is still pending. An admin has not reviewed it yet. Make sure your profile is complete so it is easy to approve.
I joined the wrong chamber. You can request the right one. Each membership is separate, so joining one does not tie you to the rest.
Can I be in more than one chamber? Yes. You can belong to several at once.
